MUSEUMS

Bogotá is home of many museums that in their expositions, paintings and works contain the history of Bogotá and Colombia. If we are really  interesting on discovered traditions and details of our city and country we should go to museums and explore all that important things that very carefully they  select and show to us.

La Casa de la Moneda:

La casa de la moneda is located in the Cll 11 # 4-93, in the neighborhood of La Candelaria. It has a structure of colonial house, in here where there where minted the first coins of America in 1622.

Inside the room of the house you can take a tour watching how the bills and coins were and are made. Also you can observe the different stages that Colombia had to pass from the bater to actual Colombian peso. As final point you can see a little of the history of Colombia's economy

When you visit La casa de la moneda on holidays they give you a especial coin as a souvenir.

Museo de Botero:

 El Museo de Botero is house of a large collection of works of Fernando Botero. This museum has the intention of spread the arts culture in Colombia. 87 works belong to his personal collection world art. The other 123 workswere made by the same artist.inside the museum pudes appreciate some of the best-known works by Botero.

In my personal opinion i did not enjoy my visit to this specific museum because I do not like Boteros work. But i go because he is one of the most recognized artist in Colombia and even in the world.

Museo del Oro:

 

El Museo del Oro is located on the Parque de Santander, en la carrera 5ª esquina de la calle 16.  Go to the museum is a grate opportunity to see the city and take the public tranportation Trasmilenio. Once inside the museum you can take a tour to see the history of gold and other precious metals of the prehispanic societies in the country.

The museum is dived in 5 rooms: The metal working,  (El trabajo de los metales) People and gold in the prehispanic times, (La gente y el oro en la Colombia prehispánica) Cosmology and symbolism, (Cosmología y simbolismo) The offering (La ofrenda) and the last one The exploratorium (El exploratorio).

In my personal oppinion  visiting this museum is a grate expirience if you like Prehispanic Colombian history or the leyends of that time like the one of the "La leyenda del Dorado". I enjoy going to the offering room, that for me is the best room of the 5.

Skating Places

 

Are you bored on Saturdays? One of the things we can see in Bogota city is that there are many people skating, places like the ones that are in the pictures provide you things to skate and got new skills that could be very interesting in your life, but you can't only skate in this type of places, one of the coolest things of the skate is that you can skate everywere in the street, in a park basicaly you skate everywhere you dont have barriers for skating, so now you know if you are bored take your skate and start practicing to become the best.

Compensar

This is a beautiful place to go you know and you can do every type of sport you can as you see in the images this is a beautiful place with wonderful instalations for you to have a good time, if you are bored on saturdays what is best idea than going to compensar to having a good time practicing sports and share with your family and friends, i dont think there is any better plan than this, so now you know if you want to pass a very good time with your friends and family just go to compensar and enjoy all the things that this place have for your happynes.

Futbol 5

Nothing like a good soccer match with your friends but there are not so many places with good installations for playing soccer that's why i'm going to talk to you about Futbol 5, this is a very good place in wich you can play soccer without the worries of throwing the ball out of the field in this place no, this is an indoors place in wich you can play soccer with your friends with no worry, you can do the one who lose the match pays the rent of the field of the field this is a very good incentive to the match so now you know qhere you can find a place for playing soccer with no worries.

Neighborhoods:

QUIRINAL:

it is located from the street 63 to the 59 and located from carrera 50 until limited with the Simon Bolivar park. The neighborhood is composed by houses there are only 3 town houses. In its area we can  find the catholic center of the police, we can find "el centro de alto rendimiento", the "complejo acuatico", a cafam market. In its  northern and west limits we can find the Simon Bolivar park. The neighborhood  focus is mainly residential.

PABLO SEXTO:

It is located from the street 59 to the 53 and from the carrera 50  to limit with the Simon Bolivar park. This neigborhood is one of the first neigbohoods in Bogotá and it's named in honor of the priest pablo sexto that came to Bogotá. It had two stages, the first one is divided into 4 phases, each one with a different colour (yellow, red, green, and blue); the second stage had all buildings constructed in bricks of the same colour, in addition any of the buildings have more than five floors.

These neighborhoods  are  located in an important zone at the geographic center of the city, they are near to many important places, like the airport, "El Campin", the National University, the historical center . At always in this zone passes important streets and carreras like av 68, av 53, av 63, av NQS(30), av 26.

QUIROGA:

   Is located at the southern part of Bogotá

  At the north it limit with "avenida mariscal sucre" and carrear 25, at the south it limited with the "avenida caracas", at the east it limited with street 28, at the west it limited with street 42.

  Itwas well founded at 1952 on november in an area of a farm, that at first it was an artistic center.

  Gustavo Rojas Pinilla made a project that was centered in doing 300 houses, because of these, much part of the floor of Quiroga neighborhood is more residential than other things.

  Animportant fact of these neighborhood is that on October 29 of 2004 it was an objective of a terroristic attack from " las FARC" on the Caracas avenue.

Salitre plaza is at the  North West of Bogota, It is a great to hangout with you friends and family.

• GRAN ESTACION

Gran Estacion is located at the North West of Bogota (26 Street over the 68 avenue) is one of the 3 biggest malls in Bogota. Here you can have fun every time with friends, family or even alone. In GE you can have all what you want, from an ice rink to WOK or a nice place to take a drink. 

From the  first view you have of GE you'll be immediately in love with it. The architecture they use and the theme is so comfortable that you want to stay all day long.

It counts with "Cine Colombia" where you can see a grate movie and be attended by nice people, also with a Casino "Golden Station" where you can take a drink and play with friends, but if you have kids or you are under 18 years old you can have a nice day by been in "Replay".

If you are going to have lunch or meal GE is the ideal mall, here you can find a food court with all the restaurants you want as Archie's, Whopper King or Jeno's Pizza.

This malls also have some shows of some radio stations as "La Mega" or "Los 40 Principales"

So come and enjoy your day in Gran Estacion.

  SANTAFÉ       " Mi Mundo"

Santafé is located at the North of Bogota (170 Street). It is the biggest Mall in Colombia, for that reason is like been on a whole city. You can have real life in it with "Divercity" a fun place for kids under 13 where they can work as doctors, architects, fire mans, models or anything they want. Taking your kids to this place they would be more conscious about life and money.

But if you are a teenager you can have a nice date by been on restaurants, on Cinemas "Cine Colombia" or taking look to beautiful clothes on stores as: Nauty Blue, Levis, Falabella and others.

About restaurants Santafé can have all what you want from Burger King, Mc Donald's to Kokoriko.

This mall will gave you the day of your life, so what are you waiting to come?

Libraries:

When we think about libraries we think about a boring place in which there are a lot of books  with information that for real it doesn't matter to us.

But if you really take the time to explore them, you will see that is a place where you can relax and take a time for you. If you can find a theme that you like very much you can find there information about that and have a good time reading about it.

Take in to account that reading is very important for learnig, getting inform and getting a good vocabulary.

  Julio Mario Santo Domingo: It is located in the Av. street 170 No.67-51.  Is one of the biggest libraries of Bogota. It counts with a service for students and adults that permit that you can borrow books of the librarie and take them to your house; this service is called Bibliored.  The atention service or opening hours are Tuesdays to Saturdays  from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and Sundays from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.

 About 80,276 people in the month are visiting the library.  Most of people who are going between the week in the hours of evening and the weekend in the morning are students, but in the afternooon of the weeekends a lot of adults are going to the library  to see theather shows, and to have some computers classes. There are also workshops of clay for children and of movies for adults and teenagers.

The simplest way to find the books you need is to look by  the computers found in the rooms. You can search by the title, the author, the subject, or the series.

Maximun interest registeres: Title: Biology; Author: Hergé; Subeject: fairy tales.

•  Virgilio Barco: it is located in the Av. Cra. 60 No. 57-60.  Is one of the principal libraries of Bogota . The Virgilio also counts with the service of Bibliored.



This Library has children's room of 2 floors, it has a zone for computers in which the kids can learn the importance of read and look for information with a guide.  In vacations time, the library counts with a vacation course in which kids go for 2 weeks to the library from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. There they have ludic activities and the objective is that kids get interest in reading.
For the adults we can find sewing and acting workshops, movies and the reading room.
The library is surrounded by waterfalls and streams.

• Luis Angel Arango: its located in Cra. 5 # 11-68. Is the principal library in Bogota and one of the most important of "Latino America". Is one of the most visited public libraries in the world. 

The Library occupies an entire block. It has 10.000  useres by day and it counts with 2 milllions of volumes. It has an area of 45 thousand square meters, six floors and two basements.The present site was opened on February 20, 1958 by the Bank of the Republic, an institution to which it belongs. It is the head of the Network Library of the Republic Bank, which includes 19 libraries in different cities of Colombia.
